Find out how to best open your swimming pool for the warm weather.
Spring is here, and the weather is starting to heat up. Throughout the winter, you may have closed your pool. If it’s been a while since you’ve used your pool, it’s now the perfect time to start to open your pool for the spring and summer. Check out these tips to help you open your pool so that you’re best able to enjoy swimming all season.
Clean and Remove the Pool Cover.
Start by taking good care of your pool cover. Remove any debris from your pool cover and take the cover off the pool. Wash the pool cover and inspect it for any damage. If there are any rips or holes in your cover, ensure that you invest in a new one.
Skim, Filter, and Vacuum.
After you remove the pool cover, you’re bound to have debris in your pool. Clean your pool water by removing any leaves using your skimmer, filter, and vacuum. Once the pool is debris-free, then you can add water to your pool if levels are low and check the chemical composition.
Check Pool Chemicals.
After your pool is clean, it’s important that you check the water chemistry so that you can make any necessary adjustments. Wait about 12 hours after you’ve started to run the pool filter before you test the chemicals. Check the pH, alkalinity, chlorine, and calcium levels. If anything is off balance, ensure that you adjust the chemical composition so that your pool is sanitary enough to swim in.
When it comes to your swimming pool, ensure that you’re ready to open your pool for the swimming season. Take care to ensure that your pool is clean and safe to swim in all summer long.
